Our Coffee Mornings started in September 1999. They started as an attempt to raise vital funding for necessary building repairs. The fund raising is now our secondary aim, our main aim being to provide a valuable opportunity in the village for meeting together socially for friendship and fellowship. That said, we have successfully raised funding for:

  • Removal of asbestos from the cellar and old boiler room.

  • Complete rewiring of our premises.

  • Repairs to the roof.

  • Repairs to the porch and complete internal decoration of our premises.

  • External decoration is now complete with the exception of the railings which will be done as soon as is possible and funds allow.

Towards the end of 2003 our central heating system came to the end of its life, and a new heating system has been installed to the cost of £9,000 plus. This included a new boiler, radiators and hot water facility.
In June 2004 our target for the decorating was reached and a new target of £10,000 was set. Fund raising towards this target stands at over £3,600 as of May 2006. We feel that our building is now maintained to a high standard, we can be justly proud of our achievement and hope that all major repairs are now out of the way for a good number of years to come. Well done to everyone!

In June 2005 we were granted funding from BIFFA from Landfill Tax Credit to install secondary glazing in the whole of our premises. The secondary glazing is now installed and we hope that all who come on to the premises will feel the benefit. It will enable us to keep the heating of the building at a more even and comfortable temperature and should help us to reduce the amount of fuel used. I addition to the secondary glazing funding was given for an Art competition for the design of a Window using the ideas of local children. Watch this website for further details.
Funding was granted under the same project for this Website for Lees Methodist Church and so as the year progresses, there will be lots of exciting opportunities and news to report as these schemes come to fruition. In June this year around the time of this year's Sunday School anniversary we hope to have an exhibition that the children from the school can come across to see, so if you have any photographs of either the old Church building (now demolished) or our current premises which you would be willing to loan, please do let us know. This will be our 150th Sunday School Anniversary so we will be celebrating back to the year 1856.
